Our Philosophy

Dermot Minto, Owner

Recently I was asked why I decided to start a contracting business in Nashville. There are tons of builders here, they said. Why be another one?

For me, there are a few things…

First, I love Nashville - from hot chicken to walks in nature to listening to songwriters at 3rd and Lindsley. Over the past several years my wife and I have put down roots in this community, and we love the energy that comes with being in one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.

Which brings me to the second thing… with so much new construction happening it can be hard to find reliable contractors for remodeling projects. Even conscientious builders like me can feel the pressure to take on more jobs than we have time to adequately oversee. But that’s a mistake, especially when we’re talking about people’s homes.

Aside from children, and maybe a dog, for many people your home is your greatest pride and joy. It’s where you live, entertain friends and family, and go to retreat from the chaos of life. Our homes are our safe havens, and remodeling them shouldn’t feel any more invasive than it has to.

It’s this latter part that gives Minto & Co. a unique position in the home remodeling space.

The fact is, I like people, and I take a lot of pride in my work as a General Contractor who sincerely cares about the individuals I’m working with. As cheesy as it may sound, I want to help you realize your dreams when it comes to elevating the look and feel of your home, and I’m willing to do what it takes to make sure you end up with not only a beautiful result, but a positive experience throughout the project.

For me, a key part of this commitment involves being physically present at your job. If I’m not on your project daily I’m there at least every other day. I don’t disappear like some other contractors do.

I’m also fortunate to have built a great team of suppliers, subcontractors and employees who not only do good work but are pleasant to be around. Because this may sound cheesy too, but life is too short to surround yourself with people you dislike. And besides, there’s a certain level of trust you need to have when inviting people to work in your home. We get that, and do our best to earn it at every turn.

So, yeah… there are a few reasons I’m honored to be part of the booming growth here in Nashville. It’s been a worthwhile endeavor building beautiful spaces - and relationships - with homeowners just like you. And (final cheese alert) I never get tired of helping dreams become reality. - DERMOT
